ShipGear® Freight Rules – ShipGear

ShipGear® Freight Rules

Gain complete control over how and when freight charges are updated on orders, invoices or sales receipts.

ShipGear Freight Rules gives you total automation of freight billing.
What does freight rules offer over the standard handling fee?

  • More options: set a minimum/maximum or a fixed amount
  • Conditions: base a freight calculation on a field in the order or within the carrier’s shipping software

Order Total

A common example of using ShipGear Freight Rules:

  • Define different freight calculations based on order total.  For example, you may want to set flat amounts based on the range
  • Instead of a flat dollar, you could also define a percent increase or decrease.
  • See lines 8 and 9 for order total rules and note that these rules can be calculated before or after any other set of rules.  In this example, there is a base freight determined by order total with additional increases for express, air services.

Customer Type

You could also base freight charges on a field within your ERP system such as customer type.

For example, you may want to give your Gold Resellers a better deal on their freight:

  • Notice in this example we doubled up on the rules to have base freight charges at $5.00 over list THEN adding additional percents based on customer type.

Package Count

ShipGear Freight Rules also gives you the ability to set the percent or flat dollar handling fee based on the order, package or shipment count.

Service

You can also define your rules based on a field within the carrier shipping system such as service:

See rule 10 and 11 for service and note that these rules can be calculated before or after any other set of rules.  In this example, there is a base freight determined by order total with additional increases for express, air services.
